About

202023 is a mispronunciation of the year 2023 popularized by Twitch streamer Adin Ross. Ross said "202023" instead of "2023" for the first known time in early December 2022 during a stream with Andrew Tate and continued to use the term throughout January 2023, spreading to other streamers and public figures, including rapper Lil Pump who also purposely began mispronouncing "2023" as "202023."

Origin

The earliest known use of "202023" is a tweet[1] posted by streamer @WeloBk on December 13th, 2022, showing his Twitch stats, writing, "202023 bouta be a movie," garnering roughly 20 likes in a month. It is unclear if this was intentional or a typo.

On December 14th, 2022, Adin Ross streamed on Twitch with Andrew Tate. During the stream, Ross wears a bald cap and tries to look like Tate to show him that he's transformed into a "G." At one point in the stream, Ross tears off the bald cap in front of Tate as a prank and says, "January 1st, 202023, I will shave my head bald on stream." The clip was uploaded to the Adin Live YouTube[2] page on December 15th, garnering over 711,000 views in a month (shown below). This is the earliest apparent use of the term by the streamer. The clip of Ross saying "202023" was clipped and reposted to TikTok[3] and Twitter[4] that day by user @trickypalace.

On December 23rd, 2022, TikToker[5] @iamfiresnippet posted a clip of Lil Pump (possibly taken from his Instagram story) wearing a mask and saying, "It's 202023, flexing jewelry is not a flex no more. Flexing assets is a flex," garnering over 800,000 views in a month (shown below). The video was also posted to Twitter[6] on December 29th by @SaycheeseDGTL.

The term also became popularized among his fans.
