Bakutoe or I Was Busy Thinkin' 'Bout Bakutoe refers to a viral video in which a TikToker dressed in Kirishima from My Hero Academia cosplay sucks on a pacifier as a portion of "Boys" by Charli XCX plays, then takes the pacifier out and lip dubs what sounds like "Bakutoe" in a childish voice, which has been edited into the song. "Bakutoe" is likely a reference to the character Bakugo. The video was originally posted by TikToker @jax._.here as early as February 2021 and deleted sometime after. Since then, the video has been reposted and referenced in memes numerous times, often as a cringe video. In 2024, a reupload of the video's original audio saw a resurgence in popularity on TikTok.
Origin
It is unclear when exactly TikToker @jax._.here originally posted the Bakutoe video. The earliest known video referencing the upload, which consists of a still screenshot of the upload, was posted by TikToker[1] @cloudy.megagonefree.fp on February 14th, 2021, suggesting it was around or prior to this date.
On May 4th, the video was added to a My Hero Academia cringe compilation by YouTuber[2] The Bully Cat as the first entry in the compilation that garnered over 1.2 million views in three years. This is the earliest known reupload.
Spread
The video was reposted numerous times between 2021 and 2024, often referenced as a piece of cringe content.
On November 19th, 2023, TikToker[3] @flutterdollie reposted the video, garnering over 300,000 views in nine months. On April 7th, 2024, TikToker[4] @hyunjins.stars posted an edit of the original video that gained over 110,000 views in four months.

The audio mashing up "Boys" and the "Bakutoe" voice saw a resurgence in popularity in 2024. On July 1st, TikToker[5] @alphabakugoukatsuki posted a video featuring two people in My Hero Academia cosplay set to the same audio, garnering over 292,000 views in a month.

On August 23rd, TikToker[6] @bethanyboil posted a video lip dubbing to the audio, garnering over 650,000 views in five days. On August 26th, TikToker[7] @domo2luvrr posted a similar video, garnering over 750,000 views in two days (shown below).
