About
Chainsaw Man Chapter 233 or the Chainsaw Man Fake Ending Theory refers to fan theories that the final chapter of the manga series Chainsaw Man, chapter 232, is not actually the last chapter and that there is a secret 233rd chapter from creator Tatsuki Fujimoto coming out, which would lead into a third part of the series. Chapter 232 was released on March 24th, 2026, and theories about a true ending were popularized around the same date. The theories are comparable to the Conformity Gate theory that surrounded the release of the Stranger Things season five finale.
Origin
On March 24th, 2026, chapter 232 of Chainsaw Man, advertised as the final chapter of the manga series, was released. The ending of the manga received mixed reviews, with some finding it too abrupt and unsatisfying, leaving too many character arcs incomplete.[1]
On that day, X[2] / Twitter user @YoshidaShoyou posted a joke about the possibility of another part of the manga, writing, "After that ending, there’s no doubt in my mind that Chainsaw man Part 3 is either going to be about a transcontinental horse race in the year 1890 or the end and rebirth of the world through the lens of a depressed teenager," garnering over 9,300 likes in a week.
Spread
Over the following days, additional theories about a secret additional chapter for the Chainsaw Man manga continued to spread online among the fandom.
On March 30th, 2026, Redditor Turbulent_Top9155 made a post to the /r/ChainsawMan[3] subreddit titled, "what if 233 exists?" The post offers a theory about a secret 233rd chapter of the manga and gained over 530 upvotes in two days.
On March 31st, Facebook[4] user Akira Kei posted a meme spreading misinformation about a secret 232nd chapter of the manga, garnering over 1,600 reactions in under a day.
The meme was reposted by X[5] user @TopGyaru that day, writing, "Chainsaw man isn't over? It was a fake ending Fujimoto made for April fools?!" garnering over 5,800 likes in the same span of time.
Later on March 31st, 2026, X[6] user @ImNotThatGloomy made a post laying out their evidence that another chapter might exist, gaining over 6,900 likes in a day.
