Hulk Angry or Angry Hulk Meme is a reaction image meme of the Marvel Comics character The Incredible Hulk flexing and grimacing, his veins visibly bulging under his skin. The artwork, titled "Always Angry," was originally posted by DeviantArt user Grimbro in late July 2012. A low-res version of the image began spreading as an image macro meme as early as 2023. The meme was further popularized as a reaction image over the following years, including on TikTok and in the Marvel Rivals community.

Origin

On July 28th, 2012, DeviantArt^[1] user Grimbro posted a piece of Hulk fan art titled "Always Angry," depicting the Hulk with red eyes, flexing and grimacing, garnering around 8,900 views in 14 years.

On April 17th, 2023, Instagram^[2] user grandmas.booty.cheeks posted a meme using a low-res version of the art captioned, "THIS SHIT LACED IM TWEAKKINN AAAAHHHHHH," gaining over 6,600 likes in three years. This is one of the earliest known versions of the image as a meme.

Spread

The Hulk Angry meme continued to spread over the following years, largely as a reaction image to express anger, rage or power.

On March 9th, 2026, X^[3] user @operaling posted the meme with a caption that references Uma Musume, garnering over 2,500 likes in two weeks.

On March 13th, X^[4] user @imsharkingit posted the reaction image next to an image of their Marvel Rivals rank, writing, "on my rank up BACK to eternity and we get chuds who can’t aim now I’m down to 79🫩," garnering over 1,300 likes in about two weeks.
