"I Like Trains" is a catchphrase that originated from the asdfmovies. It's commonly associated with the I like Trains Kid,^[1] a character from the series that blankly says "I like trains" shortly before he or another person gets hit by one.

Origin

This meme originated from a skit in asdfmovie2. The video was created by Tom "Ska" Ridgewell (TomSka), and uploaded to YouTube on January 1st, 2010. TomSka included I Like Trains in his next iteration, asdfmovie3, which was uploaded on December 30st, 2010, almost exactly a year later. Though absent from asdfmovie4, TomSka would later create an "I Like Trains" music video.

TomSka's Response

The popularity of the videos didn't go unnoticed to TomSka himself. On September 23rd, 2011, TomSka uploaded a music video. It featured the song “I Like Trains”, which was based on the similar catchphrase. The song was written by Todd Bryanton (LilDeuceDeuce)^[2] and animated by Joshua Palmer (Zeurel)^[3].
