Invisible Drax refers to a comedic scene in the movie Avengers: Infinity War in which Drax the Destroyer stands still for over an hour convinced that his stillness renders him invisible.

Origin

On April 27th, 2018, Avengers: Infinity War was released and included the scene in which Drax believes he is invisible. The scene was uploaded to YouTube four months later and garnered over 306,800 views in a year (shown below).

Spread

On April 27th, 2018, Twitter users began mentioning the Invisible Drax scene as a highlight of the movie.^[1] The scene sparked common theories claiming that Drax was in every movie but he was just standing so still that know one could see him.^[5] On April 29th, Know Your Meme user SaltyFopdoodle uploaded an image of Mantis photoshopped in to a scene from The Room which received 50 upvotes in a year (shown below, left). The next day, Redditor Frankrod29 uploaded an an image which photoshops Drax into a Perks of Being a Wallflower poster to r/MemesCU^[2] (shown below, right). The image received 160 points (99% Upvoted) in a year.

Tumblr users and Redditors continued reference the scene and refer to Drax as a character who is able to become invisible. On June 1st, Tumblr user el-shango-drew-and-shot^[3] uploaded a drawing of four characters known for the invisibility powers (shown below, left). The image received 133 notes in a year. On December 29th, Redditor Armorpiercing44 used a screen shot of the scene in response to the caption "when you've mastered the art of standing so still that now your parents can't see how much of a disappointment you are" and posted it to r/memes^[4] (shown below, right). Redditor dingleberrydan69 commented, "Why is there just a random picture with no one in it?" which became a common comment on images that include Drax.
