The Lookism Anime Edits refer to a TikTok video editing trend that emerged in late December 2025 and exploded in popularity into early 2026. Creators overlay clips from the Lookism anime (the 2022 Netflix adaptation of the popular Korean webtoon/manhwa by Park Tae-joon) with the song "ex-freundin" by luu (featuring Nosgov), creating dramatic, high-energy montages focused on character glow-ups, transformations, mogging moments, and themes of physical appearance supremacy.
Origin
The trend is widely credited to a specific TikTok video posted by user @user019653928581 on December 26, 2025. The original edit featured standout scenes from the Lookism anime--particularly Daniel Park's body-swap transformation and various "glow-up" sequences--synced to "ex-freundin," a hyperpop/alt track originally released in late 2024. The song's catchy, somewhat melancholic yet aggressive beat, with lyrics touching on ex-relationships (ex-freundin being German for "ex-girlfriend"), paired ironically or dramatically with the series' core premise of lookism (discrimination based on looks) and brutal social hierarchies.
The original quickly gained traction in anime edit and looksmaxxing communities, inspiring many recreations. The song itself ("ex-freundin" by luu feat. Nosgov) predates the trend by over a year but found renewed viral life through this pairing, similar to how older tracks blow up via TikTok edits.
