Oh Fuck Did Margaret Sit Here??/? refers to a piece of fan art depicting Regular Show character Mordecai asking if Margaret, his love interest, sat in an empty stool then sniffing it deeply, simping for her. The artwork was originally posted to Twitter by user happyroadkill in May 2020 and inspired photoshops and redraws over the following year, often changing Mordecai to a character from another media franchise. The art plays off the common joke that Mordecai Was a Simp for Margaret during the show.

Origin

On May 23rd, 2020, Twitter^[1] user @happyroadkill posted, "roughly cleaned n colored some rough sketches i made last night whilst under the influence," along with a number of sketches of Regular Show characters doing various activities as requested by the artist's Discord friends. One image shows a sketch of Mordecai standing in front of a stool, exclaiming, "oh fuck did Margaret sit here??/?" then leaning down and sniffing the seat deeply (shown below).

Spread

The image became the subject of photoshops and redraws over the following months in mid-to-late-2020, interpreting the joke with new characters. For example, artist sintastein posted a version with Aggretsuko character Haida sniffing Retsuko's seat on an unknown date (now deleted), which was reuploaded to iFunny^[2] on September 29th, 2020 (shown below).

On August 20th, 2020, Instagram^[4] user allsortsofmeme posted a version of the original meme with the caption edited to read "did one of my followers sit here," gaining over 1,900 likes in a year (shown below). The meme has been reposted numerous times online, notably by Instagram^[5] user your.residential.goth.gf in March 2021, gaining over 26,000 likes in under a year.

On October 24th, Twitter^[3] user @ChanderDeerfox posted a version of the image replacing Mordecai with their fursona, a "deerfox," gaining over 2,100 likes in just over a year (shown below).

On December 20th, 2021, Instagram^[6] user professorgutsv2 posted a version of the meme using the character Brief from the anime series Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt, gaining over 1,200 likes in a month (shown below).

The argument also saw Mordecai being compared with the main protagonist of Adventure Time Finn.
