"Finally! A Worthy Opponent! Our Battle Will Be Legendary!" is a memorable quote by character Tai Lung from 2008 animated film Kung Fu Panda. Since 2016, the quote has been circulated as an image macro and an exploitable by Spanish-speaking users. In February 2019, the format reached mainstream attention on Reddit, with memes referencing individuals challenging others to a fight, often while overestimating or underestimating own power.

Origin

On June 6th, 2008, DreamWorks Animation animated film Kung Fu Panda premiered in the U.S.[1] In one scene of the film, the main antagonist Tai Lung, a snow leopard, contemplates his future encounter with the main protagonist Po.

Starting 2016, memes based on the two-panel screen capture of the scene have been circulated by Spanish-speaking users. The earliest posts[3] following the format can be traced to at least March 11th, 2016, with numerous examples appearing on Facebook and Memedroid in the following years.
