Mario Judah (full name Mario Diamond-Judah Douglas) is an American rapper who gained viral popularity in October 2020 following the release of his song "Die Very Rough". After the song and its music video became viral, the rapper became a popular subject of memes.

On June 19th, 2020, rapper Mario Judah released his debut single "Crush," with the single failing to garner significant attention.

On September 24th, rapper Mario Judah released his second single "Die Very Rough" in which he sings about chasing a man who is on the run with the intention of killing him. The song accumulated over 1.5 million streams on Spotify^[1] in three weeks, while a music video (shown below) for the song received over 1.9 million views on YouTube^[2] in the same period, gaining over 10.6 million views in three months.

Starting on October 5th, 2020, following a viral tweet by user^[3] @Druski2Funny that received over 9,200 reweets and 72,700 likes, the video and the rapper became popular subjects of jokes on Twitter and has been used in TikTok memes. In the following months, the rapper gained popularity as a subject of memes and references in the hip-hop meme communities such as /r/hiphopcirclejerk on Reddit and Rappers in Peculiar Places on Facebook.

On November 23rd, 2020, Genius released^[4] a Verified episode featuring the rapper which received over 1.6 million views in three weeks (shown below, left). On December 6th, Mario Judah released^[5] "Bih Yah," in which he used Playboi Carti's signature "baby voice" singing style. The video received over 2.6 million views on YouTube in three days (shown below, right).

Reputation

Online, Mario Judah gained significant popularity in memes in the hip-hop community, with jokes often imagining Judah as one of the best rappers of all time and positively comparing him against popular rappers. In late November 2020, "Judahfication" memes in which Mario Judah's and another person's face were either combined or shown side by side, gained popularity, similar to "Jahfication" memes that followed XXXTentacion's death in 2018. Still images and GIFs from his song "Die Very Rough" and his intro lyric "Where the fuck is Mario Judah?" have also been popular subjects of memes and references.

Mario Judah was born in 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia. He started his career as a beatmaker and producer before in January 2020 followed an advice to begin songwriting.
