About

REZZ is the stage name of Canadian electronic musician Isabelle Rezazadeh. Rezazadeh is known for popularizing and reviving the EDM genre "new beat" and has amassed a heavily dedicated following online.

Online History

Inspired by dubstep musicians at music festivals she attended, Rezazadeh began producing and uploading music onto Soundcloud in 2013.[1] She released her first EP, Insurrection, through EDM label OWSLA's sub-label NEST HQ, on January 20, 2015, showcasing her underground sound (shown below). She would release her second and third EPs, The Silence is Deafening and Something Wrong Here, through deadmau5's music label mau5trap, showcasing a more refined underground sound (also shown below).

Rezazadeh would go on to release her first studio album, Mass Manipulation, through the mau5trap label on August 4th, 2017 along with her second studio album, Certain Kind of Magic, through the same label, with both albums charting on the U.S. Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and on the US Heatseekers Album chart.

Reputation

Rezazadeh's approach to electronic music has garnered her success in the EDM scene and is one of the most successful acts to come out of the mau5trap label. With both of her albums charting on the Billboard charts, Rezazadeh's sound and growing popularity have given rise to "new beat"/midtempo contemporaries such as 1788-L and Notaker. Rezazadeh has also won a Juno Award for her album "Mass Manipulation" winning the "Best Electronic/Dance Album" category.[2] She boasts 190,000 followers on Soundcloud as of December 30th, 2018. Rezazadeh's success and her cult following were covered by Billboard on March 29th, along with appearing on the cover of the March 30th issue of Billboard magazine.[6]
