Origin

The earliest known iteration of the image was posted on the Blogspot uprootedpalestinians^[8] on January 28th, 2011(shown below).

Spread

Over the next few years, the image was shared by a number of websites, including Albawaba,^[1] twasul^[3] and secretnews.fr.^[4]

On December 21st, 2013, Pikabu^[2] user Besuska posted the image with a speech bubble on the bird. The post received more than 980 points in six years (shown below, left).

On April 2nd, 2018, Redditor ^[5] tacopig117 posted the image on the /r/battlefield_one subreddit. Later that year, Redditor^[6] kamikazes9x posted the image in the /r/NamFlashbacks subreddit, where it received more than 540 points (96% upvoted) in less than one year.

The following year, on January 18th, 2019, Redditor^[7] the_jim-lord posted the image in the /r/dankmemes subreddit with the caption "syrian soldiers capture american drone." The post received more than 17,000 points (97% upvoted) and 125 comments in less than six months (shown below, center).

On April 2nd, Redditor^[9] SlothySurprise posted the image in the /r/MemeEconomy subreddit with the caption "When you try to sneak back into your house at 3 am and your whole family is still awake waiting for you." The post received more than 19,000 points (96% upvoted) and 875 comments in 24 hours (shown below, right).
