"Images With X Music" Gimmick Accounts refers to gimmick accounts that post memes based on various images accompanied by soundtrack from a certain franchise, achieving a humorous effect through establishing an association between what is depicted in the image with the events, characters or "vibe" of the franchise. Originating from Twitter gimmick account "Images With Ace Attorney Music," the trend gained a significant presence on Twitter in November 2020.

Origin

On October 20th, gimmick Twitter[1] account Images With Ace Attorney Music (@FittingAA_Music) was created. On the same day, the account posted[2] a Le Fishe meme accompanied by "Godot's Theme" from the 2004 video game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Trials and Tribulation. The post received over 138,500 views, 4,600 retweets and 10,500 likes in one month (shown below).

Spread

In the following days, Images With Ace Attorney Music posted more videos in which viral images were combined with music from Ace Attorney games. For example, another October 20th video[3] received over 48,400 views, 2,000 retweets and 4,800 likes. On October 22nd, the account[4] posted a meme that received over 33,500 views, 1,400 retweets and 3,700 likes.

On October 23rd, 2020, Images With Kirby Music (@ImagesKirby)[5] and Images With Yakuza Music (@yakuzaimages),[6] the first two derivative pages, were created (example tweet[7] by @yakuzaimages shown below).

Starting in late October 2020, the trend gained notable popularity on Twitter, with accounts such as Images With Pokemon Music (@imagespkmn),[8] Images With Mega Man Music (@ImagesMega),[9] Images With Touhou Music (@fitting2humusic),[10] Images With Undertale Music (@picswithutost)[11] and multiple other gimmick accounts being created.

In the following months, a number of tweets posted by the pages went viral; for example, on November 7th Images With Fitting XIV Music tweeted[12] a meme that received over 267,000 views, 9,900 retweets and 17,100 likes.

"X Dances To" Gimmick Accounts

'X Dances to' Gimmick Accounts refers to gimmick social media pages which post memes based on a single video in which a certain character either dances or does a dance-like move, combining it with various songs. A popular meme format on Facebook since 2018, in 2020 the meme gained larger presence online through with the launch of multiple X Dances to Twitter pages. The format is also known as Same Video Set to Different Songs and, among Spanish users, as X Bailando Diferentas Canciones.
