“The Dumbest Thing I’ve Ever Heard” is a scene from the animated TV series Detentionaire that has been utilized in memes as of October 2021. The memes were originally posted onto Reddit, and have had somewhat of a spread onto Instagram.
Origin
This scene originated from the 2011 series "Detentionaire":https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detentionaire – specifically the episode Double Date. In this particular scene, Camillio (the character at the top) gave a speech on why school uniforms shouldn’t be implemented and Principal Barrage responded saying “that was literally the dumbest thing I have ever heard.”
Spread
Detentionaire as a whole had a fan resurgence in early 2021, which has been growing slowly. On October 8, 2021, u/sefan78 posted this template onto the Detentionaire subreddit. After that, Instagram page bigmoodlmao posted a meme using this template.
Afterwards, the template continued to be utilized on Reddit with some gaining thousands of upvotes. On October 25, 2021, u/Rmon_34 posted the template onto r/MemeEconomy, a place for Reddit users to find new meme templates, and from there, the template continued to grow.
