On August 6th, 2025, Tumblr[1] user and artist epicsause-official posted an original meme of a character with spiky hair saying, "The numbers don't lie, idiot!" while holding up a sign that reads, "The incorrect numbers." The post, captioned, "data really is beautiful," gained over 31,400 Notes in three months.

On September 24th, 2025, X[2] user @Ochi3003 posted the meme as a response to another post sharing a screenshot of Elon Musk quote-reposting a claim by the @EndWokeness X account sharing purported statistics about sex offenders, suggesting that the statistics are incorrect, garnering over 12,000 likes in two months.

On November 10th, 2025, X[4] user @skelsoup70 quoted the post with an edit of the image depicting the character as Bart Simpson from The Simpsons, garnering over 11,000 likes in 10 days.
