TheRussianBadger Selfie Redraws refers to a series of redraws and edits based on a selfie posted by YouTuber TheRussianBadger. Posted in September 2023, the selfie achieved popularity in June 2024 thanks to a viral joke about the video game Pizza Tower.

Origin

On September 11th, 2023, on his birthday, YouTuber TheRussianBadger posted a selfie in which he made a cartoonish expression, smirking and raising his eyebrow. The post (shown below) received over 3,100 reposts and 39,000 likes on X^[1] in ten months.

On July 9th, 2024, X^[2] user @NOISEPLUSH posted the photograph with the caption referencing the video game Pizza Tower. The post (shown below) received over 2,400 reposts and 23,000 likes in three days.

Spread

Following the post, the image achieved popularity as source material for edits and redraws. On July 10th, 2024, X^[3] user @ElRyano1 edited TheRussianBadger as Ace Attorney character Luke Atmey, with the edit (shown below, left) gaining over 960 reposts and 6,800 likes in two days. On July 12th, X^[4] user @the_2355 edited the YouTuber as Robbie Rotten from children's television series LazyTown. with the edit gaining over 3,500 reposts and 37,000 likes in one day (shown below, right).

On July 10th, 2024, X^[5] user @radialasymmetry quoted @NOISEPLUSH's post, commenting, "how is every redraw ive seen of this less cartoony than the real thing". The post (shown below) received over 3,500 reposts and 79,000 likes in two days.

The photograph maintained popularity as source material for memes on X / Twitter through mid-July 2024.
