About

Tony Snell 0 Point Game, also known as Tony Snell 2017 vs. Jazz, refers to a series of ironic infographics showing the performance of NBA player Tony Snell during the first 28 minutes of the February 2017 Milwaukee Bucks vs. Utah Jazz match. Snell's poor performance became the subject of jokes, parodies and an NBA Quote Card meme in the early 2020s, often used as a reaction image on Twitter / X when someone does something unproductive or irrelevant.

Origin

On February 24th, 2017, Milwaukee Bucks guard Tony Snell failed[1] to record a single point, rebound or assist during the first 28 minutes against Utah Jazz. The earliest memetic content about the player's poor performance was posted on X[2] by user @JoeOnDemand on August 17th, 2018, paired with the caption about Snell "just out there running lol." The post (seen below) amassed 60,000 likes and 16,000 reposts in six years.

Spread

Snell's 2017 performance against the Jazz became the subject of jokes and memes among NBA fans in the following years, often being used to describe a player who was unproductive or irrelevant during a match. For example, on March 12th, 2021, the Facebook[3] page NBA 24/7 shared Tony's 28-minute status (seen below, left), captioning it, "Never forget when Tony Snell put up this legendary stat line." The post amassed roughly 15,000 likes and 6,000 shares in three years.

On July 10th, 2021, X[4] user @ClutchPoints posted a picture of Tony Snell holding a paper with a zero drawn (seen below, right) paired with the text, "Tony Snell may have dropped a goose egg vs the Jazz back in 2017🥚." The post received more than 80 likes and 12 reposts in three years.
