"EARFQUAKE" is a song by American rapper Tyler, the Creator, released on May 17th, 2019, as the first single from his fifth studio album IGOR. Following the release, multiple memes referencing the song lyrics and the music video, as well as video edits, were posted online.

On May 17th, 2019, American rapper Tyler, the Creator released his fifth studio album IGOR, with the music video for its lead single "EARFQUAKE", featuring Playboi Carti, Charlie Wilson and Jessy Wilson, released on the same day.[1]

Playboi Carti Feature

On May 17th, YouTube user David Trupp commented "When carti said "aingoborou dontgifubounan Ayofumylu" I really felt that ❤️" in the reply section of "EARFQUAKE" music video, with the comment gaining over 32,000 likes in three days, referencing poorly discernible lyrics sung by rapper Playboi Carti (shown below, left).[2][3] In the following days, multiple reposts and new variations of the joke appeared online.[4] For example. On May 19th, 2019, Instagram user fuckmyatname made a post which gained over 8,900 views and 1,800 likes in two days (shown below, right).[5]

Instagram Edits

On Instagram, several notable edits of the song and the album cover were posted. For example, on May 19th, Instagram user papyrus.mp4 posted a Pickle Chin edit of the song, gaining over 24,200 views and 6,800 likes in one day two days (shown below, left).[6] On May 20th, Instagram user yupanthony posted an edit referencing video game Undertale, with the video receiving over 32,900 views and 9,200 likes in 24 hours (shown below, center).[7]
