About

Vegeta Cult is a TikTok cult in which users change their profile pictures to an image of a character photoshopped into Vegeta from Dragon Ball's green jacket, as worn in Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Users then tend to follow each other and raid certain large TikTokers' comment sections speaking about a takeover. The cult began in late June 2021 and grew over the course of the next two months. It is similar to other TikTok cults like the Hamster Cult, where users changed their profile pictures to the Staring Hamster meme.

Origin

On June 15th, 2021, TikToker[1] @____vegetatard posted a video announcing his return from a recent ban consisting of an image of Vegeta in a green jacket as worn in Dragon Ball Super: Broly (shown below, left). On June 28th, he posted a video showing a screenshot of a number of parody accounts using the same profile picture with names like "vegetarduncle" and "vegetardstepmom," as if part of the user's "family" (shown below, right).

On July 8th, the TikToker posted another video showing even more people who changed their PFPs to Vegeta. On July 30th, he officially announced the starting of the Vegeta Cult (shown below, left). On August 1st he posted a video showing a number of photoshopped PFPs featuring Vegeta's jacket, gaining over 300,000 views in five days (shown below, right).

Spread

The cult quickly spread over the course of July, resulting in a high number of TikTokers changing their profile pictures to photoshops with Vegeta's coat, often using other anime characters (examples shown below). To join the cult, a TikToker must change their PFP to either an original or already made image similar to this.
