About
What Are You Waiting For? is a memorable quote from the 2004 animated film The Incredibles by Pixar. Online, a screencap of the scene is often used as a reaction image to express longing and sadness.
Origin
On November 5th, 2004, The Incredibles was released in theaters in the United States. At the beinning of the of the film, the character Bobb Parr (a.k.a. Mr. Incredible), had a bad day at work and goes home. Getting home, he tries to close the car's door but fail.
Angry, he put some strength to close the door and kneaded the car's door making it impossible to close. Pissed off, Bob uses her strength to lift up to car like in angry. A little kid in a tricycle see Bob with the car in her hands and surprised, his bubble gum explode. Desperate, Bob puts his car on the ground and go home.
Later in the movie, getting home Bob faces the kid once again (shown below).
[Bob notices the little boy on the tricycle staring at him for the second day in a row]
Bob: Well, what are you waiting for?
Little Boy on Tricycle: I don't know. Something amazing, I guess.
Bob: [sighs] Me too, kid.
On November 11th, 2016, a multi-pane image of the scene was submitted to /r/me_irl[3] by Redditor paul_18 (shown below).

On December 16th, 2016, the Cheezburger Facebook[1] page published an Elder Scrolls-themed image macro (shown below).[2] On March 13th, 2017, the Neon Genesis Evangayion Facebook page posted a Neon Genesis Evangelion-themed image macro, which garnered upwards of 2,200 reactions, 1,800 shares and 70 comments over the next year (shown below, right).
On March 16th, Tumblr user ben-yatta[2] submitted a variation in which the child says he is waiting for the show Steven Universe to be "good again" (shown below, left). On June 22nd, Redditor iPhong7 submitted a Rick and Morty-themed version of the image to /r/rickandmorty,[4] where it received upwards of 17,600 points (86% upvoted) and 180 comments prior to being archived.
