"Why You Bully Me?" (not to be confused with the realistic Forever Alone face "Why You Bulleh Me" meme) is a line uttered by pro e-sport player S1mple during a streaming session. The sound clip was quickly adopted by Fortnite and Overwatch players as a way of expressing anger. It is also typically found in video game-themed montages on video-sharing sites.

Origin

On February 7th, 2016, YouTube user atypicalFlame uploaded a cut segment from a stream in which pro player S1mple is seen responding to remarks by fellow pro player PTR with the phrase "Why you bully me? (shown below).

A compilation highlight of different gaming moments with the Ukrainian player that included the scene was then uploaded by the Skooby YouTube channel on February 9th, implying that it may have been shot during a Counter Strike: GO session (shown below).

Spread

On February 8th, a thread about the segment was created on the subreddit for CS:GO.^[1] Users who watched the full stream argued in the thread that the exchange was made in good banter between the two.
On December 19th, 2016, YouTube user Donger uploaded the sound clip with a still photograph of S1mple (shown below). It accumulated over 2 million views in the next three years (shown below).

Donger would also upload the full 20-second segment on September 26th, 2017, gaining more than 2 million views in the next two years.

Starting in 2017, various players making montages of their games on Overwatch and Fortnite started referencing the clip, either in the title of their videos or by reusing soundbites from it, including videos by Anchorage_349 (shown below, top), SirCinder128 (since deleted), Oh Long Jonson (shown below, middle), and Golden Ninja 50 (shown below, bottom).

On November 9th, 2018, an entry was submitted to Urban Dictionary referencing the phrase as an enduring Fortnite meme,^[2] and it became the top definition on the site.

One notable iteration of it was made by famous Fortnite streamer Fe4RLess on August 2nd, 2018 (since deleted). It gathered more than 16 million views in less than a year.
