About
Bag Full of Elf Bars and My Friend Is an Elementary School Teacher… What They Confiscated This Month refers to a photo of a white trash bag filled with Elf Bars (a brand of disposable vape) which became associated with the aforementioned phrasal template on the website formerly known as Twitter in mid-2023. The post received a community note and inspired satirical usage of the image going forward. Also, many meme creators paired visually similar images showing a large group of objects with the phrasal template, replacing the imagined elementary school's location.

On the following day, August 7th, X[2] user @hopes_revenge posted the same image, captioning it, "My friend is an elementary school teacher in SoCal sent me this picture-- what they confiscated this month," gaining roughly 62,200 likes in one day (shown below, right).

Soon after, a community note was added to the bottom of @hopes_revenge's post, which they humorously pointed out in a viral reply[4] on August 7th, gaining roughly 2,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).
Meme creators on X then began to pair the catchphrase with other images. One of the first known was posted by X[5] user @TheWapplehouse on August 7th, 2023, who posted a photo of empty "whip-it" canisters, gaining roughly 29,100 likes in a day (shown below, left). Others began to satirize @hopes_revenge stealing the original photo. For instance, X[6] user @lunch_enjoyer jokingly added his own watermarks to the photo, gaining roughly 1,300 likes in a day (shown below, right).
