Candy Salad refers to a TikTok food trend in which people make and share "salads" consisting solely of different types of candy mixed together into a bowl or container. While some candy videos were shared on TikTok as early as 2023, videos of people making candy salads went viral in April and May 2024. However, "Candy Salads" as a concept likely predate the internet.
Origin
The earliest known mention of the phrase "Candy Salad" on the internet is a September 21st, 2008 blog post on UnicornLove.[1] However, the earliest known viral TikTok[2] about Candy Salad was posted to the platform on May 21st, 2023, gathering over 11 million plays and 1.6 million likes in a year (seen below).
A few days later, on May 29th, 2023, TikToker[3] @mikaylamcn posted her Candy Salad video, gathering over 12 million plays and 1 million likes in a year (seen below, right).

The Candy Salad trend saw a resurgence in 2024, after TikTok[4] account @fusiondancecompany's March 7th, 2024, upload gathered over 11 million plays and 1.2 million likes in two months (seen below, left). On April 1st, 2024, TikToker[5] @fdlcardinalgirlssoccer posted a Candy Salad video that gathered over 26 million plays and 3 million likes in a month (seen below, right).

Candy Salad videos continued to gain traction on TikTok in April, with @stucostevenson's April 12th video gathering over 81 million views and 7 million likes in two weeks (seen below, left).[6] On April 21st, TikToker[7] @nathan_yonex posted a video roasting the person who brought skittles in the aforementioned clip, gathering over 20 million plays and 2 million likes in two weeks (seen below, right).
