About

Dragons Having Sex with Cars is an internet paraphilia and art subculture based on sexual intercourses between automobiles and legendary creature dragons. Due to the hyper-specificity of the fetish, it has long been considered a subgenre of art that proves the veracity of Rule 34.

Origin

The fetish was allegedly invented by John Martello,[1] a Furry artist who has a particular interest in dragons. He created the first images in May-June of 2004; as far as is known, there were only three images created at that point (censored example shown below).

② 2010 20 "CAR & DIGO 741-56

Where and when these images were originally posted by Martello remains unknown, though based on his other NSFW dragon artworks, it can be inferred that these were not created as a joke. The assumption is that they were, in some form, made specifically as sexual fetish images, whether for himself or as a commissioned artwork for someone else (commissioning custom artworks is a common practice in furry fandom).

These images remained unknown to a wider audience until February of 2007, at which point a user of DoodleDraw.com found and reposted the images.

Spread

DoodleDraw.com was an Oekaki BBS, similar to 2draw.net, and owned by Jay Stile, best known for the 4chan precursor shock/porn site stileproject.com. Being part of StileNet, DoodleDraw was an NSFW, anything-goes Oekaki board, and many perverse images were posted there. Rule 34 was becoming a popular meme at this point, and DD users were happy to use their skills to propagate any ridiculous things they could find or come up with. When Martello's images were posted to the board, there was disbelief that anyone could possibly have such a fetish because there was no backstory or credit to Martello that came with these images. Nevertheless, DoodleDraw was inspired by the trend and made many images of dragons having sex with cars (example shown below).

After having made these images, the DoodleDraw users posted them to many other forums, including 4chan.[3] In the following months, "dragons fucking cars" became a popular meme on the forum.

Around 2007, Martello apparently noticed DoodleDraw's ironic fandom of his work, and made two or more images in the genre. "Dragons fucking cars" became reasonably well known in the following years, though it didn't become a popular meme until the /r/dragonsfuckingcars[2] now-famous subreddit was created by Redditor /u/jymotion.

Before And After Looking Up 'Car Dragon'

On March 24th, 2022, TIkToker @graygrayisgaygay posted a video where she records herself before and after Googling the term "car dragon," challenging others to do the same via an on-screen caption (shown below). The video gained over 458,000 views in six days. The video is set to an original sound consisting of Soulja Boy's 2007 song "Yahhh!" The video sparked a trend on TikTok where other users record their reactions after searching the term.
