Origin

On October 17th, 2023, X (formerly Twitter) user [@yekkhazz](https://x.com/yekkhazz/status/1714446612590633469) posted an edited Dragon Ball image showing Vegeta declaring “KAKAROT I’M GAY LET’S FUCK” with Goku replying “YES VEGETA.”
This is the earliest known upload of the meme. Although later reposts on Reddit and other platforms created confusion about the source, the timestamped post by @yekkhazz confirms its origin on X.

Spread

Between late 2023 and early 2024, the image and text spread across X and Dragon Ball meme communities. The exaggerated homoerotic tone fit into the long-standing tradition of humorous, out-of-context Dragon Ball edits, and the line “Yes, Vegeta” started to circulate as a standalone punchline.

On September 18th, 2024, animator [@AdjDraws](https://x.com/AdjDraws) created an English-dubbed video of the meme, explicitly crediting @yekkhazz as the original source. This video quickly went viral in the English-speaking Dragon Ball fandom, inspiring remixes, fan animations, and further edits.

Reception

The meme became a recurring in-joke across Dragon Ball communities. By 2025, the phrase had been reused in redraws, text posts, and cross-fandom parodies, solidifying “KAKAROT I’M GAY LET’S FUCK, YES VEGETA” as a recognizable shitpost catchphrase.
Importantly, while some have claimed the meme originated on Reddit, its first appearance is verifiably on X via @yekkhazz’s post in October 2023.
