Kento Nanami Hair Pull refers to a scene from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga and anime series in which the character Kento Nanami grabs the character Haruta Shigemo by his hair (specifically by his ponytail in the anime adaptation) and interrogates him. Following the release of the anime episode from October 2023 in which the scene takes place, the scene became a subject of hornyposting and humorous references in the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom.

Origin

On March 23rd, 2020, chapter 100 The Shibuya Incident, Part 18 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series was released in Japan.^[1] In the chapter, character Kento Nanami grabs character Haruta Shigemo by his hair and interrogates him about the location and number of his allies (panels shown below).

On October 12th, 2023, episode 12 "Dull Knife" of season two of the anime adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen premiered. In the episode, the scene is animated, with a notable change being Nanami grabbing Shigemo by his ponytail and not simply by his hair (scene shown below).

On October 12th, 2023, X^[2] user @biyuuji posted the clip of the scene, captioning it, "THE HAIR PULLING???? OH MAPPA WANTS NANAMI BAD." The post (shown below) received over 64,000 reposts and 227,000 likes in two months.

The scene inspired more viral posts on X and Reddit on the day of the episode's premiere and in the following days, with some examples being hornyposting. For example, on October 12th, X^[3] user @fushiqruo made a post about the scene that received over 17,000 reposts and 141,000 likes in two months (shown below, left). On the same day, X^[4] user @ghostcoochie made a hornypost that received over 46,000 reposts and 205,000 likes in the same period (shown below, right).

On November 22nd, 2023, cosplayer Julia Stunts posted a montage in which she is grabbed by her ponytail by several Nanami cosplayers at the Anime NYC event. The upload (shown below) received over 3.1 million views and 416,000 likes on TikTok^[5] in one week.

On November 27th, 2023, X^[6] user @mickeykkuma reposted the video to X, where it went viral and sparked discussions in the following days. For example, on November 27th, X^[7] user @tanijrou caption the video with a Would You Rather Have a Gay Son or X joke which also referenced the Makima Woofers meme and which received over 5,300 reposts and 50,000 likes in three days (shown below).
