About

LALALALALALALALALALA is a series of videos that overdub a sequence from the music video "We Know Something You Don't Know" by DJ Format featuring Jurassic 5 with the song "Petit Love" by Smile.dk. The video contains a group of people in animal costumes, including a tiger, an alligator, a shark, a bear and a turtle, dancing outside.

Origin

In 2001, the pop group Smile.dk[2] released the song "Petite Love," which features the chorus "la la la la la la" (video below, left).

Two years later, in 2003, the music video for the song "We Know Something You Don't Know" by DJ Format featuring Jurassic 5 was released. The video features the footage of the people in animal costumes dancing (shown below, right).[3]



On September 24th, 2005, the website http://lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala.com[1] launched. The site features a video of the animals dancing to the song "Petite Love," as well as a counter indicating how long the visitor has been watching the video (screenshot below).

On Nov 22nd, 2008, YouTuber "Walbert Araújo" published the video "LALALALALALALALALA video original." Within 12 years, the video received more than 882,000 views (shown below).



The video inspired a series of recreation and reaction videos. For example, on April 25, 2009, YouTuber "Andre Araujo" uploaded a video "lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala da Kaxaça," which featured several people dancing to the song in the manner of the animals (shown below, left).

On December 11th, 2009, YouTuber Pridernocka published a video entitled "Descarga – Mion – Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala," which featured a pair of MTV hosts playing the video and dancing with the video, as well as promoting the website (shown below, right).



On November 23rd, 2011, YouTuber TheTibursio published the video "10 Hours of La La La LaLa LaLaLa La La LaLaLaLa." The post received more than 1.5 million views in less than 10 years (shown below).
