"Perfection Glass Wipe / Meaning Of Perfection" is a three-panel exploitable meme featuring a blurred screenshot of the dictionary definition of the word "perfection" and a stock photograph of eyewear lenses being wiped clean with a cloth, followed by an image of an individual, character or object that is deemed to be "perfect" by the creator.

Origin

While the precise origins of the meme and the stock photographs remain unknown (shown below, left and center), the earliest single topic blog dedicated to the exploitable series was launched under the Twitter handle @CleanEyeglasses^[9] on June 27th, 2016 (shown below, right).

The first post from the twitter account @CleanEyeglasses^[9] debuted on April 14th, 2017, and featured the Holy Bible and Justin Bieber’s Purpose (Deluxe) Album alongside the *cleans glasses* picture. The tweet has since received over 500 likes and 1,000 retweets. The account has since continued to use Christian related imagery alongside the cleans glasses picture.

Precursor

Nobody’s Perf- is a catchphrase used to preface an image of a celebrity or an object that is considered to be perfect by the poster. The phrase went viral among various fandom communities on Tumblr in 2011.

Spread

On November 23rd, Tumblr user Chubbyarcanine^[2] made an edit of the meme, using a cropped fan illustration of the Love Live! Sunshine!! character Mari Ohara (shown below, left) in a Zettai Ryouiki fashion, which garnered over 2,000 notes within three weeks. Several other examples can be also be found on Tumblr^{[4][5][6][7][8]} under the tag "perfection."^[1] On November 26th, Redditor "Avarios" submitted another variation featuring a photoshopped image of Cookiezi, a South Korean player of the freeware rhythm game Osu! (shown below, right), which accumulated over 700 points^[3] (89% upvoted) over the course of the next few days.
