POV: I Travel Back In Time To Hear X Story refers to a TikTok animation POV meme and exploitable in which users insert their OCs (original characters) and various characters, celebrities and public figures, usually depicted crying, into Alight Motion, a motion design app.

The videos are accompanied by the phrasal template "POV: I travel back in time to/and hear X story" and an altered version of the song "Parade" from the animated film Paprika. The trend originates from a video in the aforementioned format, featuring an OC and Rosa Parks, which was posted in late February 2026.

Origin

On February 21st, 2026, TikTok^[1] user @knoxxsnipes posted an animated video with their OC and a crying Rosa Parks with a slowed version of "Parade," a piece composed by Susumu Hirasawa for the 2006 animated film Paprika, and the caption, "POV: I travel back in time to hear Rosa Parks Story." The video received over 936,900 views and 58,500 likes in less than two weeks.

Spread

Reactions to the video spread quickly on TikTok in the days that followed, with TikTok users using the Rosa Parks video in posts that would have the clip abruptly interrupted with loud music and chaotic edits, usually featuring brain rot characters like Tung Tung Tung Sahur.

On February 25th, 2026, TikTok^[2] user @yourlocalguardreal used the original video in such an edit, posted with the description, "Nuke the whole generation." The video received about 821,000 views and 155,500 likes in a bit over a week.

A similar edit was posted the following day by TikTok^[3] user @oscarsigmafriedrich, featuring the Evan Burger meme among other clips. The video received 301,500 views and 29,100 likes in about one week.

As the clip continued to spread throughout the TikTok platform, redrawn parodies began cropping up in a manner similar to the Is Your Smile Stitched? trend of late 2025.

On February 27th, 2026, TikTok^[4] user @alexanemic posted a parody featuring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the text, "POV: You travel back in time to hear Israel's story." The video received over 535,100 views and 76,700 likes in one week.

Similar videos followed in the following days. On March 1st, 2026, TikTok^[5] user @bootybandit495 posted a video following the same format, featuring their OC and Charlie Kirk. The video received about 242,900 views and 66,300 likes in just six days.
