About
Scott Adams Is Right and Scott Adams Cutouts refer to a series of exploitable memes in which cutouts of Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams are superimposed over news snippets covering crimes committed by Black people. The catchphrase and format achieved virality on 4chan and Twitter following Adams' comic Dilbert being dropped from numerous newspapers in early 2023 over a controversial video in which he called Black people a "hate group" and advised viewers to "get away from Black people."
Origin
On February 22nd, 2023, cartoonist Scott Adams, best known for the Dilbert comic strip, held a livestream on YouTube[1] in which he referenced a Rasmussen Reports survey that asked whether people agreed with the statement It's okay to be white.. According to the survey, 26 percent of Black participants disagreed with the statement and 21 percent said they weren’t sure. During the stream, Adams called these respondents a "hate group" and said that the best advice he could give to white people was "to get the hell away from Black people."
Later that day, Twitter[2] user @RyLiberty tweeted the clip, commenting, "This real or deep fake?" (shown below). On February 23rd, Twitter[3] user @mmpadellan then shared the clip, writing, "I'm not surprised Scott Adams is a racist. I'm surprised it took this long for him to admit it." The clip gained a total of 3.4 million views on Twitter in one week.

In the days following the stream, the Los Angeles Times, USA Today and other newspapers announced that they would no longer work with Scott Adams, dropping Dilbert from their publications.[4]
On February 26th, 2023, an anonymous 4chan user created a thread about Scott Adams on the /pol/[5] board. In the thread, a user posted a collage of news snippets covering crimes committed by Black people, superimposing an image of Scott Adams raising his hands over the collage (shown below).[6]
Spread
Later on February 26th, 2023, more images of Scott Adams superimposed over news snippets reporting on Black crime were posted in the thread[7][8] (shown below, left and right). After an anonymous user requested a transparent cutout of Scott Adams, the poster shared[9][10] several PNGs of Adams with transparent backgrounds.
On February 26th, Twitter[11] user @DarnelSugarfloo then posted one of the images from the thread, commenting that Scott Adams had become a meme. The tweet (shown below) gained over 920 retweets and 6,500 likes in one week.
In the following days, more images of Scott Adams superimposed over news snippets and crime statistics were shared on 4chan and Twitter. For example, on February 28th, 2023, Twitter[12] user @imyesyouareno made a tweet that gained over 1,100 retweets and 10,600 likes in two days (shown below, left). On March 1st, Twitter[13] user @JosiahMarti76 shared an image that gained over 120 retweets and 410 likes in one day (shown below, right).
