Skeletor Facts is an exploitable image macro using the character Skeletor from the cartoon series He-Man Masters of the Universe. The meme involves Skeletor mentioning a disturbing fact, and then running off. While running off, Skeletor often says "until we meet again," though some variants of this have been found. The format was created by Facebook page Sinister Skeletor in early July 2021 and spread in the following months, primarily on Reddit.

Origin

The origin of Skeletor Facts is closely aligned with the He-Man Advice format, as they are very similar in setup. Whereas He-Man will give advice or some other nice saying before running away, Skeletor does the opposite, saying something disturbing or rude before running away.

On July 7th, 2021, Facebook^[4] gimmick page Sinister Skeletor was created. The page posted various memes featuring Skeletor; in many examples, Skeletor would state a disturbing fact or provide criminal advice, with the memes ending with the phrase "Until we meet again." On July 7th, 2021, the page posted^[5] the first such meme which gained over 120 reactions and 142 shares (shown below, left). On July 9th, the page posted^[6] a meme that received over 1,200 reactions and 400 shares (shown below, center).

On July 16th, 2021, Redditor^[1] -Mo2- reposted a meme originally posted by the Facebook^[7] page on July 10th (shown below, right). the post received over 40,600 upvotes in three months.

From that instance, the meme continued to gain traction and spread. It was spotted in the /r/Memes^[2] subreddit on July 19th, 2021, after being posted by Redditor u/MrAmazing3001, gaining 15,700 upvotes in one month (shown below).

On the website lolpics,^[3] a variation of the meme was posted in which the first part, Skeletor stating some random, disturbing fact, remained the same, but the punchline was altered. Instead of the usual "until we meet again" that occupies that spot, it had the additional phrase '"Skeletor will be back next week with more fitness tips," which added a new layer of complexity to the meme (shown below).
