Small Role But Huge Impact, sometimes written as Small Role Big Impact, is a catchphrase common on Indian Twitter. The phrase is used alongside an image of a character or person believed to have played a small role but had a larger impact. The format can be traced back to March 2021, however, it only gained widespread use in March 2023.
Origin
The earliest notable known use of the catchphrase "Small role but huge impact" is a post by Twitter[1] user @aakash_lakhia on March 25th, 2021. The post referenced a still from the 2007 Bollywood comedy Welcome, which gathered over 180 likes in over two years (seen below).
Spread
On March 9th, 2023, Twitter[2] user @MSDianAbhiii reposted a tweet he previously posted on March 25th, 2021, using an image of Javed Jaffery from the 2007 movie Dhamaal. The post gathered over 1,000 likes in over a week (seen below, left). On March 12th, 2023, Twitter[3] user @MSDianAbhiii posted another meme using the catchphrase, gathering over 2,000 likes in over five days (seen below, right).
On March 45th, Twitter[4] user @D4Dramatic posted an image of Baka from Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashmah, gathering over 900 likes in over three days (seen below, left). On March 15th, Twitter[5] user @Humourlessly posted an image of the old man from the Pols Aagyi Pols meme, gathering over 3,000 likes in over two days (seen below, right).
