About
The Muppet Joker, also known as Kermit or The Croaker, is a Tumblr blog and character who writes about his peculiar life and dramatic adventures on Tumblr alongside several related figures who occasionally also post on Reddit and other sites. The events of the Muppet Joker are collectively known as the Croakerverse.
It is generally believed that the blog is run by a troll and that the Muppet Joker, much like all other persons mentioned in the blog, are fictional characters.
(The Muppet Joker has used a variety of preferred pronouns during his time on Tumblr, with he/him being the most common. For the sake of consistency, this KnowYourMeme entry uses he/him pronouns throughout.)
Personal details
The Muppet Joker identifies as otherkin through the identifies of Kermit the Frog and The Joker in combination,[1] in addition to other occasional other characters such as Applejack ,[44] Bro Strider, Vriska ,[51] and others. and He also describes himself as being in a relationship with both Kermit and the Joker.
During his first few months of activity, he hated women and refused to speak to women,[1] but later changed his mind to identify as a “dark feminist” and vary his pronouns.[41][42] He writes a lot of fanfiction about the characters he kins and ships. He owns a Kermit plushie that he uses as a sex toy.
During one period of the blog, the Muppet Joker's real name has been given as Colter White,[6] born on December 25th, 2001. He lives in Kentucky,[96] United States and plays badminton.[11] He is also a gay man and a practicing Catholic.
During a later period, the writer of the story identified himself as Norman Light, and that writing the blog caused him to fall out with his wife and child. It is, however, usually believed that this was not an earnest reveal, but rather simply another layer of the fictional story – the blog has in fact alluded to this.[66]
Reception
The Muppet Joker and his adventures quickly gained popularity on Tumblr, spawning a fandom and cult following. He has arguably been Tumblr's biggest celebrity from 2024 and onwards.
Narrative
Here follows a summary of some of the Muppet Joker's stories and phases. The blog was started on May 10, 2023, but there was no true storyline to follow until February 2024.
Colter White storyarc
Initial posts
During his first months of posting, the Muppet Joker often spoke about an ex named Error Sans (Tumblr user errrrorsans404),[97] and how the two later became a polycule with people named Ash and Raven. He grew frustrated that Error wasn't interested in his fanfictions. At one point, he stole Error's epi pen during an allergy attack, and Ash and Raven had to wrestle him to get it back.[95][98]
On March 15, the Muppet Joker had bought a sword to duel their ex Error at their college in Ohio.[101][102] The following Sunday, he reported that he had failed.[103]

The following week, he reported that Error was “destroyed” without elaborating further.[104]
On February 23, the Muppet Joker hit his therapist with his car for disrespecting his otherkin identities, although at a speed of 4mph so no one was injured.[99][100]
Horse poisoning
On February 25, a horse that belonged to the Muppet Joker's father fell ill.[30] Four days later, private eye determined that the Muppet Joker had poisoned it, so he was banned from going near any horse.[31] He never admitted openly to the poisoning, but spoke many times about having a motive.[32][33]

Aunt's Easter dinner
On March 7, the Muppet Joker threatened to his haters to send cruel texts to his aunt if the haters didn't stop.[2] Later that day, he followed through and posted screenshots of the texts.[3][4][5][6] Later still that day, his mom forced him to apologize.[7]
Due to these texts, the Muppet Joker was not invited to an upcoming Easter dinner at the aunt's place.[12] The aunt's husband posted about it on Reddit on March 22, and the commenters on Reddit were in unanimous agreement that the muppet joker needed to be stopped.[13]

On March 31, the Muppet Joker declared that he would crash the Easter dinner.[14] On April 2, he reported that it ended badly and his parents were upset with him.[15] The aunt's husband explained what had happened on Reddit on April 4.[16]
On January 28, 2026, YouTuber Oz Media did a reading of the Reddit posts about the Easter dinner,[75] and the Muppet Joker responded by agressively promising to duel him.[76] Similarly, a TikTok post about the Reddit post recieved 393,600 likes and 2933 comments.[105]
Ethan
On March 14, the Muppet Joker started working at Starbucks[10] to pay for damage caused during a “Joker rage”.[108] On April 15 he reported having fallen in love with a coworker named Ethan,[18] and was creating an altar dedicated to him.[19] On April 22, he was fired for forcibly cutting a piece of Ethan's hair[17] for the altar.

On May 2, the Muppet Joker reported having obtained Ethan's phone number,[20] and texted an apology and explaination to him two days later.[21][22] Ethan responded by threatening to file a restraining order.[23]
Family separation and Adam kin
The resulting family chaos from the Easter dinner caused his dad to leave the family on April 25,[48] and two days later the Muppet Joker himself attempted to run away.[47] The uncle posted about the situation to Reddit the next day.[106] The day after that, the Muppet Joker was returned home by the police.[107]
On April 29, the Muppet Joker reported that during his runaway attempt[49] he gained a new kin identity as Adam from the Book of Genesis.[50]
On May 5, the Muppet Joker had started a new job as gardener at a local church.[24] He soon told the priest about his kin identity as Adam,[25] and after a negative response he announced that he was planning to curse the entire Catholic Church.[26]
Feud with Strange Æons
The Muppet Joker first mentioned YouTuber Strange Æons on February 21, expressing rage from mistaking her gender and her percieved mockery of masculinity.[59]
On May 31, Strange Æons uploaded a video discussing and documenting the Muppet Joker and his adventures.[36]
The Muppet Joker reacted negatively to this[37] and added Strange to his DNI list.[40] The two would continue to feud and clash on Tumblr for the coming months. One of his fans claimed to have battled and defeated Strange on the astral plane.[38][39]
The two even had voodoo dolls of each other.[27][28]

On July 31, it was decided that the two would duel in the ballpit when they both attended DashCon 2 in the following year.[35] Fanart was created in anticipation of the duel.
Bible rewriting
On June 16, the Muppet Joker announced that he would start writing “my Magnum Opus”,[34] which was to be “a retelling of the Bible and all of human history” from the perspective of his reworked versions of Kermit the Frog and the Joker.[29]
Emo coven
On June 14, the Muppet Joker had found a new home to move into – an self-described “coven” with three emo roommates: Athena (Tumblr user mydarlingathena), Sage (Tumblr user minuseyes), and Milton (Tumblr user lifedoesntdiscriminate). Athena kins Gerard Way and claims to be an vessel for his spirit. Throughout the month of June and July, the four people and their neighbor wrote about their experiences.
Fanart was created depicting the coven and the subsequent funeral.
Housesitting with Milton
When the Muppet Joker moves back to his mom's house with Milton, he says that he and Milton are moirails (Homestuck slang meaning “platonic soulmate”).[117]
On August 3, the Muppet Joker was tasked with housesitting for his mom and their neighbor.[110][111] The neighbor owned a lot of plants,[114] and the house was soon infested with bugs after a window was left open.[115] He attempted to solve this by releasing 15,000 ladybugs in the house[116][118] which only furthered the destruction of the plants, not to mention the cleanup efforts.[124][121][126]
On August 11, the Muppet Joker had a fight with Milton[119][120] and, just like with the horse months prior, fed him avocados that poisoned him.[122] Milton recovered and the two reconciled.[123]

The two broke up again on August 17[125] due to “the forest incident”.[130][127]
On August 29, the Muppet Joker read an apology letter to Bucephalus, but the horse ate the letter.[131] The following day, he released Bucephalus and let him escape,[128] and on September 1 Bucephalus was found dead.[132] At this time, the Muppet Joker, seemingly in another emotional breakdown, rebranded his blog to focus entirely on the 2006 video game Dogz Fashion for the Gameboy Advance,[129] but this lasted only two days.
The day after the death of Bucephalus, the Muppet Joker sought to get involved in hobby horsing to cope with the guilt of his death.[133] He lost a lot of money on the endeavour,[134] and on September 13 announced that he would start selling NFTs to his followers.[135] but regretted it on September 22.[137]

Monastery
On September 29, the Muppet Joker announced that he would join a monastery as a monk to deal with his lusting and NFT greed.[136] Turns out Athena from the coven also found Jesus at this time.[143]
He moved in on October 10 as a postulent.[138] He soon became infatuated with a fellow monk named Alexander[139] and was put in “monk jail” for one day.[140]
On October 10, Milton was kidnapped,[141] so the Muppet joker left the monastery the following day to rescue him together with Athena.[142] He faced the kidnappers armed with knives and went to jail, but was bailed out by Athena[144] and returned to the monastery.[145]
On October 20, the Muppet Joker reported that the other monks had killed his otherkin identities from within his mind,[146] which prompted him to attempt suicide by self-immolation.[147] He survived and left the monastery to live with his mom again.[148]

Duel, brainwashing, Applejack vore
Back at the house, Athena performed a ritual aimed to restoring his otherkin identities,[149][150] but it soon became clear she was manipulating him into becoming her religious servant.[151][152] Milon was upset that he was associating with Athena again and proposed a duel (referencing his Hamilton kin).[153] The Muppet Joker accepted, assuming it wouldn't be a real duel with real guns,[154] however Milton brought a real gun and fired it into the sky.[155]
On October 27, the Muppet Joker realized that Athena was manipulative[156] and successfully regained his Kermit and Joker otherkin types.[157][158]
The Muppet Joker also determined that to fully return to his old kin identity, he must get hold of a certain figurine of Applejack[159] and eat it.[160] On November 8, he found out that Emily (Tumblr user chronicallychthonic) kept it in Chicago,[161] so he went there by foot[162] – which he referred to as an “Applejack vore pilgrimage” – and arrived on November 14,[163] and described it as a success after eating the figurine.[164] He also reported that he gained Applejack as a kintype.
Thanksgiving
The Muppet Joker was invited to Thanksgiving with his family, taking place on November 29.[165][167] The event ended with him attempting to whack his uncle with the Thanksgiving turkey, but hitting his grandmother instead.[170][171] The uncle described the event on Reddit.[169]

KFC assistant manager
On December 7, the Muppet Joker got a new job as assistant manager at a KFC restaurant[168] to make up for his grandma's injuries.[172] The power quickly got to his head[173] and misbehaved[178] to the point of his coworkers resented him.[179][180] On January 8, he believed that he had been cursed by witchcraft[174] and blamed one of his coworkers (Tumblr user localbloodmage) for it,[175] and when he wrote her up for it on January 16[176] he was fired.[177]
Ohio apartment
On January 18, the Muppet Joker moved to Ohio in hopes of reconnecting with Error and the polycule.[181][182] He had arrived by January 22[192] and was working.[183]
On March 11, the Muppet Joker announced that he had gained yet another kintype: Tumblr CEO Matt Mullenweg in a fictionalized version named “Dark Matt”.[184] This also indirectly gave him the kintype of Draco Malfoy.[185]
On March 19, the Muppet Joker grew suspicious of a worksite in his basement (below, left)[186] and went to explore it,[187] only to find asbestos.[188] His landlord Marsha (Tumblr user marsha-landlord) scolded him for trespassing and spreading the asbestos around the building.[189] Marsha was also upset at him for not paying rent[191] and kicking trees while duel practicing.[190] and On April 1, the Muppet Joker showed his fanfictions to Marsha,[193] upon which Marsha locked him into the asbestos-filled basement for several days (below, right).[194][195]
He did later conclude that it was not her fault,[196] and on June 9 he would name her as his new moirail[197] after which they did photoshoots together.[198][199]
DashCon 2 in 2025
The Muppet Joker attended DashCon 2 on July 5, 2025.
He hosted a dramatization of his Bible rewriting.
He also duelled Strange Æons as planned. He lost the duel and was declared “canonically dead”, and a chior sang the Jason Segel song Man Or Muppet to commemorate him.
More fanart was created after the duel.
Super Hell
On July 8, after DashCon, the Muppet Joker reported he was screaming in “Muppet Superhell” after his duelling death.[43]
Norman Light storyarc
Possible author reveal
On August 17, Muppet Joker declared that the blog was suspended due to adverse effects on the author and their marriage.[8]
This was the final post before a 3-month hiatus of the blog.
Return
On November 14, the hiatus was ended with a post stating that the author was still overwhelmed by thoughts of the Muppet Joker.[9] Later that same day, he announced that he had “relapsed”.[56]

He soon revealed more details about his life – he is named Norman Light[58] aged 37[62] from Ohio,[59] he has a wife named Bryce and one young son, and identifies as otherkin through Light Yagami [57] and owns a “real working Death Note”.[60] He claims that his wife has “muppet trauma” from watching her parents get “mupped to death” when she was 8.[61]
On November 21, the Muppet Joker told his wife Bryce that he had relapsed,[63] which prompted Bryce to leave him[64] with the kids.[45]

He was also fired from his job on November 27,[46] but found a new job on December 4 at “the Dangerous Chemical Factory” (which he chose based on the result of a poll).[65]
On December 4, he posted a new DNI, summarizing the events of the past months. He claims that the blog is “not a bit anymore” and instead presents his true self, asserting “You think I would lie to the internet ? Twice?”[46]
Batman and Kermit possession
On December 4, Batman broke into the Muppet Joker's home and unsuccessfully tried to steal the Kermit plushie.[68] On December 7, the Muppet Joker passed out from being poisoned by Kermit, but was rescued by Batman. The next day, Bryce admitted that she was Batman and that she's pregnant, to which the Muppet Joker reacted with a violent outburst.[69] This had previously been suggested in earlier posts.[67]
In the coming weeks, the Muppet Joker discovered that the Kermit plushie had been possessed by Colter White, the previous Muppet Joker character, claiming this regularly happens to people who write fake stories on Tumblr. On December 23, Kermit attacked the Muppet Joker but was fought off and defeated by him and Batman.[70]
At some point between January 21[72] and February 2,[73] the Muppet Joker claims[86] to have appeared on season 10 of Love is Blind but were unsuccessful in finding love.[74]
Bugs & Slime class and Quinn
On January 29, the Muppet Joker revealed that he had also been studying parallel to his job – he “majored in bugs and slime with a minor in ooze”.[87][77]
On February 7, the Muppet Joker mentioned having a crush on an androgynous classmate (who would later turned out to be named Quinn) from bugs and slime class.[88] On April 6, Quinn agreed to come over to study,[89] but not much happened[90] and the Muppet Joker mostly just imagined a friendship together.[91] The crush continued, though.[92][93]
Continued family troubles
In April, the Muppet Joker reported regressing into the character more and more, causing further strife with Bryce.[80][81] On April 19, he mentions having a therapist.[94] On May 7, Bryce gave birth, and the Muppet Joker missed it due to writing fanfiction at the time,[82] which caused him great distress[54] and to abandon his medication.[83]

On May 21, the Muppet Joker's son (22 months old at the time) ran away from home to escape his parents' arguing[84] to be a “little circus boy”[85] (which had previously been named as being his occupation[71]).

DashCon 2 in 2026
On April 26, the Muppet Joker announced that he would hold a virtual panel about making sock puppets during DashCon 2.[78][79]
During the panel, several of the puppets came to life and haunted him.
By the end of the 2026 DashCon 2 livestream, the Muppet Joker held a out-of-character Q&A – the author explained being a married woman in Ohio studying to be a nurse.[200] In fact, the blog also reblogged someone calling the Muppet Joker “my wife”.[109] It is however possible, given the blog's previous claimed author reveal, that the answers given were part of the blog's fiction instead of genuinely representing the author.
