The post gained over 134 million views in two weeks.

The trend continued to spread over the following weeks leading into October. For example, on September 29th, 2024, TikToker^[2] @xxcandyr posted a video of a display shelf filled with Wednesday dolls with their hair flipped, garnering over 345,000 likes in a week.

On October 1st, TikToker^[3] @zirelle.__, an employee at a store that sells the dolls, posted a video of herself flipping the hair back in place, garnering over 4.9 million views in five days. Jenna Ortega commented on the video, writing, "This is so cute."

That same day, TikToker^[4] @juneiswack posted an image of a display of the dolls, made bald, next to a sign discouraging people from flipping their hair, garnering over 4 million views in five days. Ortega commented on the video, "please don't.'" Her comment became the subject of media attention from online media outlets including Independent.^[5]
