About

WhatsAppborea refers to a WhatsApp themed parody of Hyperborea that proclaims WhatsApp supremacy and WhatsApp world dominance in which every human deletes Facebook Messenger (among other messaging apps like Snapchat) and only uses WhatsApp. The trend started on YouTube in 2021, spreading to TikTok in early 2023 and inspiring many Hyperborean-esque images and edits that used the green WhatsApp logo. The trend also became associated with the phrase "Save WhatsApp."

Origin

On May 20th, 2021, YouTuber[1]「Matghast56」 posted a video called "Whatsapp Drip Hyperborea TNO Velimir" that showed a Hyberborean-themed character with WhatsApp logo emblems on his hands. The video gained roughly 56,700 views and 3,200 likes in two years (shown below). It is currently the first known piece of media to reference WhatsAppborea.
