Wikihow Dog Sprayed By Hose refers to a WikiHow image of a man spraying a coyote with a garden hose, the coyote reacting in distress. The image was first used in an April 2016 WikiHow article describing how to keep coyotes away from your campsite and home and became the subject of memes as an object labeling format and source for photoshops and redraws later that year.

Origin

On April 18th, 2016, a WikiHow[1] user published an article titled "How to Keep Coyotes Away from Campsites or Homesteads." The third section of the article suggests you can spray a coyote with your garden hose if it's in your yard to assert dominance, along with an image illustrating this (shown below). The article gained over 365,000 reads in six years.

On October 9th of that year, Know Your Meme[2] user Real Human Being uploaded a Yamero meme using the image, gaining over 11,000 views in six years (shown below). This is the earliest available upload of the meme, which was created by now-deleted Tumblr[3] user closetdwellers on the same day.

On October 15th, 2016, Tumblr[4] user adreamcalledeternity posted a redraw of the Yamero meme, gaining over 500 notes in five years (shown below, left). On December 14th, Tumblr[5] user vapebleach posted a labeled version of the original image, the man with the hose labeled "my actions" and the dog "people I'm trying to be friends with," gaining over 113,000 notes in five years (shown below, right). On November 6th, 2018, the a version of the meme was posted to /r/MemeTemplatesOfficial[6] requesting a template, gaining over 500 upvotes in three years.

On August 11th, 2019, a now-deleted Redditor posted a furry-themed redraw of the image to /r/furify,[7] which was cross posted to /r/furry_irl[8] that day, gaining over 930 upvotes in two years (shown below).

On October 24th, Tumblr[9] user carry-on-my-wayward-butt posted a collection of original memes making reference to non-existent media properties, writing, "i’m tired of seeing memes for shit i’ve never fucking heard of so here’s some memes for a piece of media that doesn’t fucking exist. fuck you," gaining over 76,800 notes in two years. One image uses the dog format (shown below).
