YBG Don also known as YGB vs FTC refers to memes and jokes about a clip from a YouTube video originally posted by "Lah Mike" titled, "20 MEN VS 1 YOUTUBER: ZOESPENCER." The video shows YouTuber ZoeSpencer meeting and interacting with 20 men, with one of them introducing himself as "YBG Don from D.C." When ZoeSpencer asks him, "What's your name," saying she won't call him "YBG," Don explains that YBG stands for "Young Black and Gifted." After the clip was reposted to sites like Twitter and TikTok, internet users began joking and debating about whether the nickname "YBG" is corny. In February 2025, the TikTokers began jokingly pitting the nickname YGB against FTC, a nickname created by the streamer FlightReacts. Jokes about people starting a gang war over the two "corny" nicknames began to spread soon after.

On March 28th, 2024, YouTuber^[1] Lah Mike posted a video titled, "20 MEN VS 1 YOUTUBER: ZOESPENCER." The video showed 20 men introducing themselves to YouTuber ZoeSpencer, gathering over 500,000 views in a year.

At the 7:00 minute timestamp, a man introduces himself to ZoeSpencer as "YBG Don from D.C." She asks him, "What's your real name," and he reiterates that it's YBG Don. ZoeSpencer replies, "I'm not calling you YBG, what the f*** is your name, it stands for something." Don responds saying, "Young, Black and Gifted, that's what I stand for queen, you don't like that?" to which ZoeSpencer responds, "I'm not calling you, 'Hey YBG, where you at,' I'm not doing that." He then tells her to simply call him Don.

On May 17th, X^[2] user @dyingscribe reposted a clip of the segment to Twitter, writing, "Why was she so mad," and gathering over 6 million views and 14,000 likes in ten months. Later that day, X^[3] user @primediscussion quoted the post saying, "She's right," and gathering over 80,000 likes in ten months.

On August 16th, 2024, X^[4] user @DifonMD used the "YBG Don" clip to criticize another user's belief that "KDB17" was a good nickname for Kevin De Bruyne, a Belgian footballer who plays for Manchester City. The post gathered over 22,000 likes in six months.

On August 17th, X^[5] user @trxlyzee tweeted, "“ybg don” such a funny name cuz what happens when that nigga turn 40?," gathering over 2,000 likes in six months.

YBG vs FTC

In 2025, a video of streamer Flight getting mocked for asking someone to call him "FTC" began making the rounds. The streamer can be heard saying, "I go by Flight, but you can call me FTC," to which the other person responds, "I'm a grown man you want me to call you FTC."
The clip was originally posted to TikTok^[6] on August 30th, 2023, gathering over 4.8 million plays and 400,000 likes in two years.

TikTokers^[7] began jokingly pitting "YBGs" against "FTCs" as seen in a February 3rd, 2025 video posted by @ya_mandc that lays out the "rules" by someone claiming to be the YBG leader. The post gathered over 300,000 plays and 42,000 likes in four days.

On February 5th, TikToker^[8] @antfxp posted a similar video but in defense of FTC, gathering over 200,000 plays and 18,000 likes in two days.
