On October 31st, 2023, Redditor u/clopenz2 posted an image of a shrimp on fire dunking a basketball over shark infested waters to /r/Emoney,^[1] titled, "Any real krillas here?" garnering over 290 upvotes in two weeks (shown below). This is the earliest known post of the image, but may not be the original.

Spread

On November 3rd, 2023, TikToker^[2] @psychwardregular posted a slideshow consisting of two slides. The first shows an image of a girl captioned, "The girl that's never been treated right," and the second is the flaming shrimp image, garnering over 15.5 million views in 10 days. On November 4th, TikToker^[3] @jimmyboblock posted a video version of the same meme, garnering over 500,000 views in nine days (shown below). Later that day, the image was posted to /r/musicsuggestions^[4] titled, "what songs fits with this image?" garnering around 200 upvotes in the same span of time.

On November 6th, X^[5] user @friedpoptartss posted the image, writing, "If you think hard enough this image could be the plot to a kirby game," garnering over 960 likes in a week. On November 7th, Redditor u/14sanic posted an image macro to /r/okbuddyretard^[6] adding the caption "Guys will see this and just think 'hell yeah'", garnering over 4.500 upvotes in six days (shown below).
