On September 18th, 2025, X^[1] user @InvalidLore tweeted a screenshot from Pinterest, showing a young blonde woman flexing and stretching her arm^[2] and a young bespectacled man holding up a large fish^[3] while giving a thumbs up. The post was captioned, "looking at poses to draw and…?" and gathered over 17 million views and 200,000 likes in a week.

While artwork based on the individual pose references has existed online prior to September 2025, X user @InvalidLore set off a trend that combined both poses into one artwork.

One of the earliest posts using the poses as inspiration was made by X^[4] user @LPSWaffle344 on September 19th, showing the characters Pomni and Jax from The Amazing Digital Circus. The post gathered over 5,800 likes in five days.

On September 20th, 2025, X^[8] user @yeonwu08 posted a photo of Sonic the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat posing as the girl stretching and the guy holding a fish. The post gathered over 10,000 likes in four days.
