The episode was released on March 13th, 2025 and the scene was popularized as a meme, primarily on TikTok, later that month in a series of lobotomy brainrot memes that misinterpret the cry of "I need you Cecil" as "I need you sea salt."

On March 13th, 2025, season three, episode eight of Invincible premiered. At one point in the episode, Mark desperately calls for Cecil's help, yelling, "I need you Cecil!"^[1]

On March 22nd, TikToker^[2] @animanay posted a meme mashing up several scenes from Invincible, including the "Where is Omni-Man" meme and Mark yelling "Cecil!" garnering over 1.4 million views in five days.

The meme became increasingly popular on TikTok over the following days, inspiring further edits. On March 23rd, 2025, TikToker^[3] @d13_espadeus_60 posted a meme in which the scene has been spliced next to a bag of sea salt rolls, garnering over 620,000 views in four days.

On March 24th, TikToker^[4] @smirnoff.mark posted a video consisting of a photoshopped shaker of sea salt with Cecil's face on it as the audio plays, garnering over 334,000 views in three days.

The scene came to be used in YTP style brainrot edits on TikTok in March 2025, around the time the third season of the show came to a close.
