Overview

Summit1g is an American Twitch streamer and former professional Counter-Strike player. After retiring from competitive esports, he became known online for his streaming of CS:GO, WarZ and other games.

History

Summit1g, whose real name is Jaryd Russell Lazar, started streaming on Twitch around 2012[1]. In an interview for Dexerto[2] on June 22nd, 2022, the streamer explained how he went from 100 to 1400 viewers a day. He attributed part of his success to playing “some Counter-Strike which was the first good choice…it made me go from like 20 viewers to 200 viewers.” His streaming video was uploaded to his YouTube[3] channel on January 18th, 2013, in a video titled “WarZ – summit1g: Post Office Round 1.” The post (shown below) amassed over 69,000 views and 806 likes in a decade.

The earliest Summit1g streaming session available on Twitch[4] was uploaded on July 1st, 2021, in which he plays Max Payne 3 (shown below), amassing more than 7,000 views in two years.

Online Presence

According to Stream Scheme[5] website, Summit1g “has been the most popular streamer on Twitch during its early years as a free online streaming platform for gamers all over the world.” The streamer also often joins other prominent streamers like Dr DisRespect to create content. For example, on February 9th, 2023, a clip of Summit1g vs. Dr DisRespect playing PUBG: Battlegrounds was posted on YouTube[6] by @jaron (shown below, left), which received roughly 7.2 million views and 425,000 likes in 11 months. On July 26th, 2016, YouTube[7] user @conebone uploaded a video of Summit1g interview for a news channel when he was swatted with a friend in a park while playing Pokemon Go. The video (shown below, right) received over 2.5 million views and 30,000 likes in seven years.


Personal Life

Jaryd Russell Lazar, better known as summit1g, was born on April 23rd, 1987 in Colorado, and accumulated more than 6.2 million followers on Twitch,[8] over 762,000 followers on YouTube[9] and over 1 million followers on X.[10]
