Ronald McDonald VS The Burger King is a hypothetical conflict between Ronald McDonald and The Burger King, the mascots of American fast food chains McDonalds and Burger King. The conflict first appeared in a comic book in the late '70s, and gained a following online through YTMND.
Pre Internet History
One of the earliest instances of a portrayed conflict between the two mascots was included in the "The Cursed Earth" storyline of the satirical superhero comic book series Judge Dredd, which was originally published in the British anthology comic 2000 A.D.[1] between May 1978 and October 1978. The story featured protagonist Judge Dredd being sent to the future to discover that an apocalyptic war was being carried out between soldiers representing McDonald's and Burger King.
Origin
The conflict first appeared online on YTMND when user OrochimaruKuKu uploaded a site called "The Passion Of The Burger King"[3] on March 29th, 2005.[2] The YTMND featured an image of the Burger King being tortured by a group of Ronald McDonald clones in a way similar to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ (shown below). As of May 2014, the site has gained over 10,000 views.
Spread
In response to "The Passion Of The Burger King," YTMND user Brandon00151 created a follow-up YTMND[4] in which the Burger King got revenge by beheading Ronald McDonald (shown below). As of May 2014, the site[5] has gained over 2,000 views.
On January 1st, 2008, YouTube user Seaxnton[9] uploaded a fan film about two friends caught up in the crossfire between the mascots. As of May 2014, the video has gained over 92,000 views.
On January 30th, 2009, DeviantArt user TPollockJR[6] depicted a fistfight between the Burger King and Ronald McDonald outside of a McDonald's building (shown below).[7] TPollockJR uploaded a drawing which explained why the two were fighting on February 10th, 2009.[8] The original image gained over 270,000 views andover 9,750 favorites, while the follow-up image gained over 45,000 views and over 1,340 favorites.
On March 21st, 2010, a Facebook page[11] titled "The Burger King vs. Ronald McDonald" was created.
On March 23rd, 2012, YouTube user The Infinite Source[10] uploaded a rap-off between Ronald and the King (shown below, right). As of May 2014, the video has gained over 670,000 views.
On February 12th, 2013, user LoveYou Nadeem™ uploaded an animated version of the rap battle video to GoAnimate.[12]
