Spectissa Went Out With A Guy, also known as Sexy Time Playlist, is an exploitable image macro series featuring a tweet from Twitch streamer Spectissa that describes a date with a man who lets her pick a playlist from his phone called “sexy time,” which includes 9 hours of humorous non-stop music. The format is typically used by replacing the original music described in the tweet, along with an image that correlates to the playlist.

Origin

The original image that the meme uses comes from a tweet by Spectissa to her Twitter^[1] account on July 9th, 2019. The tweet (seen below) reads, “Went out with a guy and he gave me his phone to pick the playlist in the car. He had a playlist called ‘sexy time’ so naturally I chose that one. It was 9 hours of non-stop Star Wars cantina band. We are going out again tomorrow.” The tweet received over 2,000 likes and 269 retweets.

In the following days, the tweet circulated around several sites and platforms as an exploitable. One such example comes from Redditor^[2] nawfalcityzen21 who posted a variant to the r/wholesomememes subreddit on July 19th, 2019. The meme (shown below) received over 19,500 upvotes and 179 comments.

On July 19th, 2019, Redditor^[3] SalvaPot posted a version to the r/ShitPostCrusaders sub (seen below), receiving over 13,700 upvotes and 149 comments.

The Instagram^[4] account for eslcs uploaded a variant to their feed on July 19th, 2019, which was liked nearly 8,500 times (shown below).

The meme saw a resurgence in mid-2020, reappearing on a number of social media platforms after the initial wave. On May 27th, 2020, the Facebook^[5] page Just Jedi Things posted one such example to their page (seen below), receiving over 4,700 likes, 524 shares and 487 comments.

Spectissa’s Acknowledgment in 2020 and the Conclusion of the Date

Following the resurgence of the exploitable in 2020, Spectissa tweeted^[6] about the meme on May 28th, 2020 (shown below), and said, “Well I’ve seen this meme start circulating again. I guess to give a nice conclusion: Cantina guy was @solzombii and me and him are now moving in together.”
