Windows XP System Sound Remixes refers to edits of video to include sounds featured in the personal computer operating system, Windows XP, produced by Microsoft.


On October 25th, 2001, Windows XP was released for public use which included their signature system sounds.[1] On November 20th, 2008, YouTuber Alex Roark uploaded a video featuring every Windows XP system sound (shown below). The video accumulated over 444,600 views and 3,600 likes in 11 years.


Many of the first Windows XP sound remixes were posted to Vine. On May 6th, YouTuber Dank Compilations posted a vine compilation (shown below, left). The video gained over 1.8 million views and 24,000 likes in three years. Many of the videos featured in the compilation were made by vine user WindowsXP_Vines. On September 2nd, Youtuber, Mguel pls uploaded an edited Shrek scene featuring Windows XP sounds to YouTube (shown below, right). The video gained over 140,200 views and 3,100 likes in three years.

On April 27th, 2019, TikTok user @adamczyczek uploaded the first video that combined the start up sound with the critical stop sound to showcase a surprising funny face (shown below, left). The video gained over 18,900 likes and 300 shares two weeks. Other TikTok users began using the sounds similarly. On May 4th @thatpineapplegirl and @gemini31292 both uploaded similar surprising face videos using the sound receiving over 64,400 likes and 163,400 likes respectively (shown below, right).
