Pluey refers to memes and jokes inspired by a message Toby Fox, the creator of Deltarune and Undertale, posted in mid-February 2025. Citing his reasons for the delayed release of the latest Deltarune chapter, Toby Fox put out a tweet that he later edited to read, "In addition to fixing Ch3/Ch4, we also still need to implement Pluey," causing fans to make memes and speculate about what or who "Pluey" could be. Toby Fox subsequently confirmed that his team had "implemented Pluey," leading to speculation that Pluey could be a new character in the latest Deltarune chapter. With the release of DELTARUNE Chapter 3+4 in June 2025, Pluey has officially been revealed to be a cat character, being one of three characters posing as "Mike", found in Castle Town in Chapter 4 of the game.

On February 17th, 2025, Toby Fox, the creator of the video games Deltarune and Undertale, made a series of posts to Bluesky about the long-awaited Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. Replying to a thread originally created on January 6th,^[1] Toby Fox wrote, "Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there's a lot to go through. (Haven't even tested PS5 yet) In addition to fixing Ch3/Ch4, we also still need to implement Pluey."^[2]

A day later on February 18th, 2025, Fox wrote, "We implemented Pluey." The posts gathered over 11,000 and 13,000 likes, respectively, in less than 24 hours.^[3]

Several internet users reposted Toby Fox's skeet on February 17th, as seen in a post to the subreddit /r/Deltarune by Redditor /u/Nekrotix12 that gathered over 3,000 upvotes in two days.^[4] Also on February 17th, X^[5] user @Comfnani reposted a screenshot of Toby Fox's post to Twitter / X, gathering over 4,000 likes on a tweet that read, "WHO THE FUCK IS PLUEY."

Several internet users reacted to Toby Fox's cryptic "Pluey" post with memes and jokes about what the word could mean. Many Deltarune fans came to the conclusion that "Pluey" could be the name of a new character introduced in Chapters 3 and 4.

On February 17th, 2025, Twitter / X^[6] user @neoShootingstar posted a pixelated green lemon with a face, jokingly writing, "My Pluey Fan Art," and gathering over 2,000 likes in a day. Later that day, X^[7] user @radialasymmetry posted a version of the fan-made "Pluey" in the style of a character screen. The post gathered over 6,000 likes in two days.

Also on February 17th, X^[9] user @ksanthecat tweeted Deltarune inspired fanart about "Pluey," gathering over 9,000 likes in two days.

On February 18th, 2025, Redditor^[8] /u/Jenjoma1 posted a meme to the subreddit /r/Deltarune showing a man labeled as "Toby Fox" adding gas labeled "Pleuy" to a flame labeled as the Deltarune subreddit. The post gathered over 2,700 upvotes in a day.
