The Average Top Student Cartoon is a drawing that was first posted on Twitter in mid-February of 2025, and in which the artist sums up her professional career by depicting herself in 2022 as a newly graduated bachelor, and in 2025 as a playful dog girl, in a way reminiscent of the Bimbofication meme. This tweet went viral, with many other users, and especially Vtubers, sharing their own professional experiences.

Origin

On February 16th, 2025, Twitter artist Lake (@Lil_Sammy89) posted a drawing^[1] (see below) titled "Average Top Student", and showing on the left a young woman in traditional graduation attire, under the label "2022", and on the right, under the label "2025", the same woman, turned into a dog girl, with dog ears and a tail, barking on all fours. She added to this picture the comment "Based on real life", referring to her graduating from high school in 2022 with excellent grades, before becoming a smut cartoonist. This tweet became viral, and within 10 days was liked over 69,000 times and retweeted over 7,000 times.

In the wake of her tweet gaining traction, Lake posted on February 17th a complementary tweet^[2] to indicate that she was not making any online sexual content besides her drawings, and that she still was studying at an art university. This tweet (see below) was liked over 1,000 times in 9 days.

Spread

The original tweet lead to over 400 responses in 10 days, many of which were stories about their own professional history following their graduation. Among those, several stories from famous Vtubers became viral themselves; the connection that Vtubers, in particular, felt to this cartoon, can be explained by the variety of their IRL backgrounds, combined with their typically unhinged behaviour while streaming. A tweet^[3] by Hanamori member Shxtou, posted in February 19th, 2025, and in which he revealed that he used to work in medical research, was liked over 263,000 times and retweeted over 13,000 times in a week.

Still on February 19th, idol Corp member Yena Youngblood tweeted^[4] about her former career as a neuroscientist; this post gained over 35,000 likes and 1,000 retweets in a week.

On February 20th, Phase-Connect member Kaneko Lumi tweeted^[5] about her master's degree in engineering; this post gained over 36,000 likes and 1,000 retweets in 6 days.

That same day, her fellow member Pipkin Pippa mentioned that she, on the other hand, was a high school drop-out; her tweet^[6] gained over 17,000 likes and 530 retweets in 6 days.

Other tweets, made in reaction to the original one or to the many Vtuber responses, also gained important traction. One such tweet^[7], made by @LookAtMyMeat1 on February 21st, 2025, and reacting to the Vtuber stories, gained over 119,000 likes and 4,000 retweets in 5 days.
