Overview
Elite Eomzo & DT Rise Fortnite DDoS Controversy refers to discussions about competitive Fortnite esports players DT Rise and Eomzo getting DDoSed (Distributed Denial of Service, a cyberattack that involves blocking access to a site or server by flooding the bandwidth of a network) during the North America-Central Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) in late February 2024. The duo finished in first place after day 1 of the tournament, however, Eomzo accused a yet-unknown individual of throttling his speeds via DDoS, causing the duo to finish in 8th place overall.
Background
On February 24th, 2024, Canadian esports player Eomzo posted his team's Fortnite Championship Series Day 1 rank to his X / Twitter account, showing him and DT Rise finishing first overall.[1]
However, on February 25th, Eomzo and Rise reported unforeseen technical difficulties in loading and playing Fortnite, leading them to conclude that they were being DDoSed. Eomzo made a series of posts[2] expressing his anguish about the development that same day (seen below).
Developments
Eomzo hosted a stream on his Twitch[3] channel on February 25th, 2024, in which he can be heard crying while discussing his and DT Rise's failure to rank high during the FNCS finals (seen below).
DT Rise also posted to his X account @RiseFn[4] their position on the leaderboard on February 25th, writing, "8th I'm at a loss for words," gathering over 2,000 likes in a day.
Eomzo made a post[6] on February 26th, 2024, thanking people for their support and promising to "figure out who did this."
Online Reactions
Various competitive Fortnite fans expressed their disappointment in learning that Eomzo and Rise were allegedly DDoSed during the game, with some saying that they could have won first place under different circumstances (example comments from Redditors /u/Familiar-Leading and /u/MountainLPYT1 seen below).[5]

Eomzo and Rise seemed to have been DDoS'd and lost their lead since they couldn't load into 2 games. Really sucks cause they could've had their first win. Cold and Acorn played the best today and likely would've won regardless. Multiple games they had to reboot after 3rd zone and clutched a win and a top 3. Only 1 game outside of top 10 on day 2, can't really argue that anyone else is better at the moment. Clix and Whale seemed to have figured out a good strat and played really well, continuing on from yesterday with multiple top 10's and some top 15's. Bugha with another top 3 finish, still going strong after all these years.
