He Is Going to Tell My Fucking Mom is an exploitable webcomic in which a person smokes a bong in front of their dog and the dog goes downstairs, the person concluding in their paranoid state, "He is going to tell my fucking mom." The comic was originally uploaded to Tumblr in September 2020 and went viral over the following years as the subject of redraws and referential memes.
Origin
On September 24th, 2020, Tumblr user plantain-papi posted a now-deleted webcomic in which a stick figure smokes marijuana from a bong in front of their dog. The dog walks away downstairs and in the final panel, the stick figure, paranoid and high, says, "He's going to tell my fucking mom." The original post was partially archived by Tineye[1] and the Wayback Machine.[2] On the same day, it was posted by iFunny[3] user NukaCola, garnering over 2,100 smiles in the same span of time (shown below).
Spread
The meme gained viral spread over the following years, inspiring redraws and recreations. On September 27th, 2020, X[4] user @gaybabyjail posted a redraw of the meme replacing the character with Kiba from Naruto, garnering over 2,700 likes in four years (shown below, left). On December 13th, X[5] user @toadkisses posted a redraw that gained over 3,100 likes in the same rough span of time (shown below, right).
On January 9th, 2023, Tumblr[9] user greelin reposted the original comic, writing, "this needs to be preserved forever and ever. the impact," garnering over 41,000 notes in a year. On January 17th, Tumblr[6] user zakiyyah posted an edit of the original comic referencing the horror film Skinamarink, garnering over 17,000 notes in a year (shown below). On February 10th, X[7] user @Reckless_Moss reposted it, garnering over 7,500 likes in the same span of time.
On March 21st, 2024, Tumblr[8] user larvamars posted a version of the meme featuring Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 4, garnering over 270 notes in under 24 hours (shown below).
