He Just Points At People refers to a webcomic by artist Shen Comix in which a person points at the viewer, with the author's self-insert pointing out that he is pointing at horny people. The comic, presumably inspired by similar fourth-wall-breaking memes, gained popularity as an exploitable in early April 2020, with users editing the comic's text and repurposing its panels.

Origin

On April 8th, 2020, comic artist Shen Comix posted a four-panel meme in which a person points at the viewer, its poses unchanging in all four panels. In the fourth panel of the comic, Shen Comix' self-insert comments that the person in the comic "points at horny people." The post received over 10,600 likes and reblogs on Tumblr,^[1] 352,000 likes on Instagram^[2] and 18,400 retweets and 82,900 likes on Twitter^[3] in one day (shown below).

Spread

Withing minutes, several recaptioned versions of the comic were posted on by users on Twitter, with the earliest posts made by Twitter users @skeletondoge^[4] (shown below, left), @EmmaDac^[5] (shown below, center) and @trentislivin^[6] (shown below, right).

In the following day, the format received further spread on Twitter and Reddit; for example, an April 8th JoJo's Bizarre Adventure meme by Twitter^[7] user @blackmesa_ita received over 280 retweets and 2,900 likes in one day. A same-day post by Redditor^[8] 3DartBlade received over 24,800 upvotes in /r/memes in one day.
