About

Knickers The Cow is one of the world's tallest steers, weighing about 3,000 pounds and more than 6 feet tall.

Origin

On October 29th, 2018, Australian news organization ABC[1] published an article entitled "One of the world's biggest steers, named Knickers, avoids the abattoir thanks to his size." The post describes the cow as "almost as tall as NBA star Michael Jordan and weighs more than a Mini Cooper car" (shown below).

Spread

The following month, on November 27th, 7 News Central Queensland tweeted a video of Knickers. They captioned the video, "An enormous steer in Western Australia is making headlines. At 194cm 'Knickers' is the largest in his category in Australia." The post received more than 1,700 retweets and 3,600 likes in 24 hours (shown below).

People reacted to the reports of Knickers positively. That day, Twitter[2] user @ScottFilmCritic tweeted, "There are absolute units looking at this guy thinking 'look at this absolute unit.'" The tweet received more than 365 retweets and 1,200 likes in 24 hours (shown below, left). Throughout the day, people continued to post about the animal (shown below, center and right).

Several media outlets covered the animal, including CNN,[3] USA Today,[4] BBC[5] and more. Additionally, on November 27th, Twitter[6] published a Moments page about Knickers.
